My Second Out of Body Experience from a Lucid Dream

September 29th, 2009

This experience was, for me, another little taste of an OBE experience. As per my first experience, I awoke during a lucid dream and sought to convert this into an OBE. The separation plan… sit up in my astral body directly from the lucid dream as this was successful at the last attempt.

This experience differed from the last one as it was much more vague and many of the memories of the dream and the OBE experience were forgotten as I must have fell back to sleep while still out of body.

Rather than going back to my body shortly after the projection (as Robert Bruce suggests in Astral Dynamics and) which happened to me in my first conscious OBE, I possibly followed my original waking intention (should I have another OBE) which was to do some exploring beyond my bedroom. I believe I probably spent too long “out” and forgot how important it is to download the memories in order to have “success”.

What I do remember is:
1) Waking in my dream thereby converting it to a lucid dream
2) The experience of blackness behind my eyelids as I prepared to project.
3) Standing in my bedroom and being out of body and remembering how I got there & some of the “felt” experiences which preceded me in getting to where I was (though I haven’t yet remembered the exit itself) – the first thing I remember is feeling the floor underneath me – last time I was extremely conscious during the exit phase and remembered a lot of the separation experience, which (to me) was possibly the most profound part.
4) I remember telling myself that was out of body (OOB) and am not awake as last time the experience was so real and my consciousness so similar to my waking state I thought I was in fact awake. This time I convinced myself that I was “out”… though typing this I also remember testing reality after this by trying to push my hand through the bedroom closet sliding door.. I remember feeling it hard beneath my fingers and thought that this was odd as I thought I should be able to push my hand through the door – I don’t remember the outcome of any further tests as everything beyond this point is currently forgotten.

This experience is a good sign that I can currently convert lucid dreams into an out of body experience using this method as I’m now 2/2 from my last 2 lucid dreams.

The other thing that probably made this experience different than the other experience is that the previous experience happened after sunrise and I was ready to awaken. Last night the experience happened (at a guess) between 1-3am and I believe I fell back to sleep.

In order to collect full memories of future experiences I should keep the explorations fairly short in order to successfully “download” my memories of the experience. It may also be useful to release expectations about how the experience will proceed as I did have some preconception about how I would feel during the separation phase which may have had some impact on the experience.

Cheers,

Dean
