My First Experience With Isochronic Tones

July 24th, 2010

Anyone who has been around meditation or the exploration of consciousness scene long enough knows about binaural beats and how they can be used to coax the brain into specific rhythms. I have been using a wide variety of beats for about two years now including Hemi-Sync, Brain Sync and a few others. I have have produced some objective results using beats in regards to faster learning, more intense focus and with lucid dreaming and OOBEs.  The thing is,  it’s hard to know if the results are being manifested from my intent or  if the beats play some part. I tend to think that binaural beats do work based on the research that has been done at the Monroe Institute, however without personal experience to back it up I can only consider it a likely possibility.

A few months ago I was looking through the iPhone store  for applications to dynamically generate binaural beats and I came across the term isochronic tones. Interesting! I quickly headed over to Google and started reading about this new technology. Wikipedia defines them as:

Isochronic tones are regular beats of a single tone used for brainwave entrainment. Similar to monaural beats, the interference pattern that produces the beat is outside the brain so headphones are not required, but since isochronic tones are more pronounced, the stimuli is even stronger. They differ from monaural beats which are a sine wave pulse rather than entirely separate pulses of a single tone.

The reason I was looking for an app to generate beats was because I got tired of having to depend on one implementation to generate some kind of result. I would rather just have an interface that allows for frequency adjustments and dynamic track overlays. I found a few iPhone apps that would do this, but the tracks were always limited and were of very poor quality, to the point of being a distraction. Then there are so many apps of this type within the store that it seems more like a get rich scheme rather than designed to actually do anything.

Last night curiosity got the best of me so decided to try out the AmbiScience™ series. The application I bought is called Pure Meditation | AmbiScience™ by By Tesla Audio Sciences. I think it ended up costing me a whopping $2.99. What sold me on this product was the fact that it uses the isochronic tones that I have been wanting to try and the track names sounded interesting with names like Lapis Lazuli, Fire Opal, Amethyst, Topaz, The Android’s Dream and many others. As you might have guessed, it lets me pick a frequency and then lay tracks over the top, which was my original goal. Full description here.

So what did the pudding taste like? This morning around 6 AM I ended up using Shamanic Meditation Low Pitch (Isochronic tones at 4.5HZ) with a Brown Noise overlay. The track volume was at 100% and the tone volume at 75%. The iPhone volume was set at about 8. The product allows for a 4.5 – 9 HZ frequency with a choice of binaural beats or isochronic tones. I was laying on my right side and I began to use a concentrative type meditation. The goal at first was to have no thought and then I progressed to just focusing on the tone. The brown noise track basically sounded like a soft wind.

My wife was sitting in front of me holding the baby and I remember hearing him occasionally. Within about 10 minutes he started fading and I felt a floating sensation. I shifted my focus away from my body and upwards and felt myself float up through the ceiling of the room and out of the house. I drifted up higher and off into the sky and then started spinning head over heal  back down into the house. The entire time I was consciously aware that I was in an altered state and could hear the tone the entire time. I had pretty good control over this experience. I like the sensation of flying so I ended up flying all over the sky above our house for several minutes.

I shifted my focus back to my physical body and found myself laying in bed staring at my wife holding the baby. I decided to end the experience and reached up to take the earphones off and my hands passed though my head. I discovered that I was still in the altered state and had actually been looking at her through my closed eyelids. I simply focused on coming back into phase with my physical body, felt gravity and knew I was really back. I opened my physical eyes and my wife was in the exact spot and position that I saw her in while in the altered state.

I found this experience interesting  in that the isochronic tone seemed to have locked me  into this altered state because I had to really focus on pulling myself out of it. This is a very good sign! Perhaps I will be able to repeat this again. We shall see.

Confusion Within Lucid Dream Prevents Projection

May 6th, 2010

I have been having a ton of dreams lately after starting up daily meditation. Last night was no exception as I can remember four different dreams last night, one of which was lucid.

I went to bed around 1:30 PM last night and meditated until I lost awareness. The exercise has been to stay aware as long as I can before sleep takes over while constantly focusing on something that keeps thoughts out. Additionally, any time that I wake up I repeat the same exercise.

I became lucid inside a dream at some point last night at what felt like about 2:00 AM. I was dreaming about a girl stealing my credit cards out of my wallet and then all of the sudden the dream shifted and I found myself in sleep paralysis in bed. Normally when I get into sleep paralysis I know exactly what to do, a simple thought of astral projection will take me to full waking awareness or into what is called the out of body state. The problem this time was that I was laying in my childhood bunk bed. Momentarily I was no longer an adult and had drifted back in time. It’s hard to explain, but at some point fear manifested because of a faint memory of being an adult that slipped in and caused me to question my sanity. It just got progressively worse the more I tried to bring the adult memory back.

During this lucid episode I was completely paralyzed and it seemed that part of a separate awareness was over-lapping this experience and was saying “this is it, project!”. The other part was the fear of not being able to find the time based identity. I was able to move my head and look around the room and it was truly amazing and nostalgic, the room was just like I remembered it with two sets of bunk beds. My other brothers shared a room with me during my childhood. I was paralyzed laying on my right side and was facing the other bed across from me on the other side of the room. It was a small room with only about a 5 foot section of floor space between the beds. Both beds were in opposing corners of the room with a window to the backyard between the two beds. The top of my head was facing the backyard. Opposite wall from the window was the old TV we used to play Atari on sitting on the old clothes drawer.

I kept staring at the TV throughout the experience. It was turned on and there was static on the screen and it looked normal for the most part, however the static seemed to occasionally have huge green flashes within the static. This seemed odd and my attention became intensely focused on the TV. This is where my awareness slowly started transitioning back to current time and the room faded out and my current room began to emerge. Through closed eyelids I saw the source of the green flashes. I was was looking at my Welz Rad5 Chi Generator and their flashing green lights which just happened to be sitting in the exact same location in relation to where my old childhood TV was. I slowly regained full waking consciousness and opened my eyes.

This was a really cool experience and if my identity based fear had not taken over me I would have projected. This has been a known fear for awhile and I think that it’s something that I need to overcome.

Meditation Produces Spinning / Falling Sensation

May 4th, 2010

My new meditation schedule is twice a day and I am hoping to see some results. Hopefully by writing about results will help to solidify their reality and as always give me data to look back on after my brain has long forgotten.

I went to bed around 10:30 PM last night and meditated in a seated position for about 15 minutes, became tired, switched to a laying position and fell asleep.

I woke up around 5:50 AM feeling tired. I got up and went to the restroom and came back to bed and I seemed to be less tired after getting up and walking for a few minutes. I put on my headphones and started listening to Brain Sync – Brain Massage and began to meditate by running the mantra ah-lum-baa-dee-dum – ah-lum-bar-dee-dum through my head. The goal was and is always to eliminate thoughts, and I know this intellectually, however knowing and doing (or should I say not doing) are two different things.

The Brain Sync track starts off with background binaural beats, soothing music and a river and then as the track progresses the music gets softer and softer until it’s completely gone, leaving only the sound of water.  The meditation technique and this track seemed to work well together. The music got softer and so did the complexity of my mantra until all that was left was the sound of flowing water and a faint remnant of my mantra, as if my mind became something separate from me.  A few moments later I let the mantra go and latched onto my breathing which was getting more and more shallow. When thoughts found their way in I simply observed them and went back to focusing on breathing.

Before long I noticed that my awareness was slipping away and I had to keep that from happening by quickly directing my focus back to breathing. Every time I would come back to breathing I would have a spinning falling sensation and a faint tingling throughout my body. Each time I would pull my awareness back the sensations would get stronger. I would have just let myself fallen asleep if it had not been for several meetings at work this morning. Normally, at this stage if fall asleep, I will hit strong vibrations and have a full blown OOBE.

I finally called it quits  at 7:15 AM to prepare for meetings.

Thomas Campbell Meditation Triggers Spontaneous OOBE

May 3rd, 2010

I started my journey for spiritual growth about 1.5 years ago. From the beginning I have intuitively known that I need to quiet the incessant cacophony in my head to make any real progress. This has been a real challenge with so much work all the time. I have been searching for a practical meditation technique that only retains the active components needed to be effective without any added nonsense. The Buddhist meditation was close but didn’t totally connect with my personality.

I am not going to claim success, because I just don’t have enough experience with this technique to do that however I do know that Thomas Campbell’s meditation technique showed some positive results last night on the first try. I really liked when he said that humanity is just a wrinkle in the fabric of consciousness and by using a simple mantra we can create enough background noise to remove the wrinkles leaving only pure consciousness. He has a way with words that I can relate to. Eckhart Tolle almost had me there but not quite. The funny part is that I have been saying all along that the mantra itself didn’t matter but I missed a vital component.  I think the key was that I was using real words that were attached to meanings and that was creating thoughts. Last night for the first time I used an alternating mantra of sounds with no meanings. Each manta contained 5 syllables with only the third syllable changing which created resonate meaningless complex sounds which I kept coming back to anytime thoughts would arise.

I went to bed tired at about 10:30 PM and put on my headphones and started listening to Brain Sync Dream Wave Meditation to block out background noise and then started the mantra ah-lum-bar-dee-dum – ah-lum-baa-dee-dum over and over.Within 10 minutes all I could hear in my head was bar-baa bar-baa. 10 minutes after that all physical sensory perception was gone and I was a single point of consciousness floating in 3d blackness. I could feel a surge of energy flowing through my body and my heart felt like it was racing prior to this. I ended the meditation session and went to sleep.

I woke up at 2:30 AM itching and could not seem to go back to sleep so I got up and went to the restroom and then came back to bed and listened to some random music for a few minutes until I started getting sleepy again. I put on Brain Sync – Brain Massage this time and started the mantra again. I fell asleep within a few minutes.

Around 4:00 PM I woke up in vibrations and instinctively exited my body and was standing in front of my house in the dark. I must have teleported there. This was the first OOBE followed by 2 more. The first one was interesting and I will just say that I was creating my surroundings just by thinking about what I wanted. I will not get into too many details. I had a second OOBE but I can’t actually remember what happened, only that it occurred.

The third OOBE was the most interesting of the three. I was standing on the top of some building that stood alone in some remote country landscape at daybreak. I was thinking to myself about how I had always wanted to project into space. I figured I would give it a try. I thought about flying into space and instantly was projected upward at and incredible speed and stopped at an unknown altitude in complete darkness. With my mind I asked to see the cosmos and suddenly at what appeared like an altitude of about +50º to my right appeared the Milky Way Galaxy with the Moon sitting in front of it. I was so crystal clear and beautiful that I can’t even describe it. I found myself back in waking awareness right after this and then went back to sleep  and had no other experiences.

I would like to point out that if you are going to use Thomas Campbell’s technique for meditation then you will need to read his trilogy My Big TOE. Although I explained his technique above, there is a lot of reading material that leads up to that technique and prepares you for how to effectively use the technique. The main part is adjusting the attitude. Like I said, Eckhart Tolle get’s very close to the exact same message but comes across in a slightly less direct manner. Thomas Campbell is a nuclear physicist and is one of the main guys that helped Robert Monroe invent Hemi-Sync and start the Monroe Institute. He was also one of the main players participating in their exploration of consciousness.  It’s no surprise to me that the technique worked so well.

Became Lucid In Baseball Dream

January 17th, 2010

This will be a short post because the lucid dream faded quickly. I feel the need to document these experiences if for no reason other than to trend the frequency that I become aware in states of consciousness where I should have been completely unconscious.

I went to bed around 11 PM Central after winning another game of iPhone Scrabble against my wife. I listened to “Brain Sync – The Secret – Universal Mind Meditation” as I drifted off and in about twenty minutes sleep and unconsciousness claimed my mind.

I don’t remember much of my dreams last night other than at some point around 4 AM I found myself throwing a baseball around with three other guys that I don’t remember meeting in waking life. I was in a semi-wooded field type area and I remember throwing the ball to one of the guys that was standing in a wooded patch and he ended up throwing the ball two miles up the hill from us. I felt the need to go fetch so I ran up the hill after the ball.

There was a fluctuation in time and suddenly I was at the top of the hill holding the ball in my hand. I don’t remember making the complete trip up the hill or actually finding the ball. I was standing uphill and in front of this half mile wide river which was opposite to the side of the field that I had been tossing the ball in.

I took off running down the hill towards the river and as I got closer I noticed that there was a steep embankment leading down to it. I started asking myself if I should stop running or if I should leap off of the embankment and fly across the river. This triggered lucidity in the dream because I knew that in waking life I would not be asking myself such things. If I have learned nothing else in life, I have learned that this physical subsystem that we exist in has laws and people can’t fly unaided, which is very unfortunate :) .

When I touched down on the baseball field side of the river I was fully conscious and lucid in my dream. The three guys were gone and I simply walked around for what I perceived as about a minute. It’s very exciting when you have waking consciousness while dreaming. You must experience it to get it. I tried to hold it all together but the environment and my surroundings quickly faded and I woke up.

Dreams and Lucid dreams in my opinion appear to be mostly physical phenomenons. I am not quite sure what happens when I become lucid and if the lucid awareness has its source rooted beyond the physical. I do know through personal experience that normal unconscious dreams are at least partly if not all physical.  When I was still experiencing migraines with visual auras I experienced the aura  in a dream and then woke up during this experience to find that I was still seeing it in waking life.

Now when I go out of body it’s a completely different feeling and I sometime actually transition out of a lucid dream to get there. Out of body experiences feel as real or more real than waking life. Thomas Campbell and Robert Bruce seem to be right about what’s going on when people experience projections into other realities.  Consciousness must manifest a new body for whatever reality you are visiting. This newly manifested body or form will of course exist in parallel to and independent from your physical body and the physical mind does not need to be in a sleep state in order to manifest consciousness into another reality.

Hypnagogic Hallucinations While Listening to Brain Sync

September 1st, 2009

Perhaps it’s a change in weather but I have been having headaches over the past few days. To combat the headaches I have been going to bed earlier and falling asleep while listening to “Brain Sync – Sound Healing”. This track as well as many other Brain Sync tracks use binaural beats and literally wipe headaches out in minutes. In addition to helping with headaches I have noticed some strange phenomena on the edge or wakefulness and sleep.

Sunday night while falling asleep two farmers faded into my mind’s eye and then faded out quickly within a few seconds. Monday night I noticed that right as I was falling asleep I started hearing 100s of voices for a few seconds. The odd part about both was that the images and the audio seemed to be linked to the brain sync track I was listening to. I say this because as they both faded out and my waking conscious returned, the images and audio seemed to morph into the track I was listening to. It’s hard to explain how an image transitions into audio, but it did, and it made perfect sense.

I am not sure what this means but it’s a trip and I am glad I that I experienced it.  It would be interesting to hear if others have had similar experiences.

The Performer 2400 – Heavy Duty Chi Generator®

February 20th, 2009

performerThis week is finally drawing to an end and the extreme pain that I have been experiencing after having the bottom two wisdom teeth yanked out a week ago is now fading. I am beginning to get my focus shifted back in the direction of Astral Projection, and with a powerful new weapon in my arsenal.

You might say that I asked for out of body experiences and the universe is listening. I really do see bright things in my future. Today my new Performer 2400 – Heavy Duty Chi Generator® arrived in the mail. This device is life force generating powerhouse. All I can say is that if you give you will receive and I want to send a big thanks to the sender (you know who you are).

The purpose of the Chi Generator® is to energize yourself and to add power to all of your actions at a distance, such as in combination with a manifestation program or with an older-type manifestation or radionics device, i.e., any device without a built-in Chi Generator®.

This particular model is very powerful and has 12 preset frequency settings, one of which resonates at a frequency ideal for lucid dreaming. It also has three other separate dials that allow for precision frequencies.

The performer 2400 basically emits low pulse life force energy in the exact frequency of brainwaves in a similar fashion as Brainsync  and other technologies do, however with a huge difference. When you are in a field of low pulse life force energy your brain can adjust very rapidly to it’s frequency and the need for sound or other devices such as light are no longer needed. This basically means you really don’t need binaural  sound beats or headphones anymore, you can just turn this machine on and set a transfer next to your bed and go to sleep (or not).

I do like the sound tracks so I doubt I will stop listening to them.

I have added a link to http://www.hscti.net, the maker of this device to my links below. Please take a short trip over to this site and check out all of the devices. You may want to consider purchasing one of these devices if you are a die hard  binaural  beat user, as it will eliminate the need for sleeping with headphones as I mentioned earlier and on top of that, the actual applications for this device are as limitless as your imagination.

No Progress Is Progress.

February 4th, 2009

I have not had any success over the past few days but I want to write about why, because knowing what doesn’t work is progress in and of itself. I have had a migraine this week that is slowly dragging to an end and have been covered up at work. I think that these two things combined with not much sleep has hindered progress.

The good news is that my new approach is going to work. I have been listening to a Brainsync track called “Brain Massage” while falling asleep. I still try to stay alert, but I don’t fight it. The migraine seems to be letting up now and the breathing is getting better.

When I wake up in the morning my thoughts are racing because of work, however I have been able to pull off the vibrational state every morning so far, even with the stress of work and without the use binaural beats. This to me is a good sign and now all I need to do is focus on doing what I can at work and totally forgetting about the rest. It means putting myself first over work, which I have failed to do for years. Time for a change, time for a big change.

This weekend is suppose to be mostly stress free and will give me the opportunity to use the beats in the morning. I will see success this weekend so stay tuned :)
